Would that be ignorance or just... disdain?

"Plain Spanish"? Seriously? Just because a country is located in South America it automatically speaks Spanish? Gee, how about a little review before publishing? The ads are written in PORTUGUESE, people, c'mon!

With that I commented on a website about a text I had just read.  It's been a while since I've thought about it, and I thought I was totally over it, but it still kinda hurts. It hurts that some people have this general conception of Brazil, because it is located in Latin America, the language spoken there is Spanish. And in some even worse cases, that the capital of Brazil is Buenos Aires. 

The language spoken in Brazil is Portuguese. The capital of Brazil is Brasília. Are you taking notes?

I am far from being a geography genius. Very far. But you know, if I am going to talk about something I'm not very sure about, and even if I think I am, I'll try to get my data straight. Get my things done right. Why, what if I just go around writing about the french language in France, totally forgetting about Canada and other countries that speak French as well (oh, yes, there are more)? I will only be showing how self-centered I am and how narrow my conception of world is. 

So don't forget. Just because one country is beside another, it doesn't mean they speak the same language. If this is too hard for you to understand, think of Germany and France. Would you say they speak the same language? 

I didn't think so.

UPDATE: as I was publishing this post, I got a message from the website where the mistake was taken from saying they have it corrected now. I checked it out. It is still wrong ("Portugese", missing an "u"), but better that "plain Spanish".

O que fazer quando a internet está off ou Welcome to our blog!

Nesse mundo de meu deus em que pessoas se auto-entitulam "viciadas" em internet, ter um modem problemático é, no mínimo, devastador.

Pois não arranque os cabelos (se ainda os tem)! Há salvação para o seu problema.
Respire fundo e olhe em volta. Sempre há algo a ser feito, mas, justamente por causa da dona internet, você bravamente procrastina.

Ah, a deliciosa arte da procrastinação...

O que fazer quando a internet está off foi a minha preocupação ontem. E eis que, num turbilhão de idéias, vulgo brainstorming, surgiu até este blog que vos fala.

Depois de tentar manter uma conversa com a Susan, colaboradora do blog (UPDATE: Susan não escreve mais aqui. Desistiu em 15/08, após 4 posts), amiga de faculdade, por várias vezes, e ser interrompida, resolvi agir. Fui cuidar da vida.

Tomar banho, pintar o cabelo, fazer café, retocar o esmalte... e nesse ínterim dezenas de ideias começaram a pipocar na minha cabeça, tal como o nome perfeito para o blog, três ou quatro idéias para textos iniciais, como tornar o layout mais atrativo, estratégias para aumentar o fluxo de visitas e comentários, conseguir a paz mundial, enfim, eu estava produzindo de novo! Deixei de ficar alienada pelas centenas de feeds diários e passei a usufruir da beleza das coisas ao meu redor - ainda que apenas durante os minutos em que a internet estava off.

Minha sugestão é a de que, caso você não queira pintar os cabelos, cortar as unhas do pé, fazer café, tomar banho ou sentir o aroma das flores (não necessariamente nesta ordem), venha visitar a gente! Nosso blog está sempre pronto com coisas novas e interessantes sobre moda, comportamento, beleza, educação e outras nerdices para você ler e se acalmar enquanto a conexão não é normalizada.

Quando você lembrar da gente, passe por aqui. Faça o que tem que fazer e deixe o nosso blog ali quietinho, marinando. Porque a conexão vai cair. Tenha certeza disso.
